It Tastes Like Dirt!
This week, we have been studying the layers of the Earth's soil. To help us remember what we learned, we created edible soil samples today -- and they were delicious!
Coconut flakes represented grass.
Crushed oreos with gummy worms and sprinkles represented rich top soil with organic matter and organisms living in the soil.
Vanilla pudding represented subsoil.
Whoppers represented bedrock.
We want to send out a big THANK YOU! to families who were able to donate supplies!

After correctly indenifying the second layer of soil, Jameson got the okay to add his vanilla pudding to his edible soil cup.

After adding the final pieces, Jameson's finished project looks tasty as he prepares to dig in!

You can see the layers clearly in Gunner's cup. He had extra rich soil, with lots of organisms mixed in to help put nutrients into the topsoil (in other words, lots of sprinkles).

Tyler wanted to show his gummy worm peeking out of his soil.

The orange table group is ready to dig in!

We were lucky to have Devin's grandmother join us in our soil lesson! Instead of grass, she said hers was topped with white hay.

The purple table group is ready to dig in!

The pink table group is ready to dig in!

The green table group is ready to dig in!
The final verdict? Dirt - as least this kind of dirt - tastes great!
