Learning to Use Evidence and Rules to Support Arguments

As we are beginning our unit on argumentative writing, students are using Whodunit? detective cases to sharpen their reasoning skills and learn how to support evidence with explanations (rules). This week, students are deciding whether Queenie is lying or telling the truth when she says her husband Arthur slipped and fell when coming down the stairs. We'll be compiling our evidence into an argumentative style police report next week.
