Homework - August 13, 2015

On the first day of school, students wrote 7-Up Sentences (sentences with seven or more words) to introduce themselves and their interests to us (their teachers). Today, we discussed paragraph structure and how to focus our writing to improve it. In class, students worked on writing a 2nd draft of their "About Me" writing and were allowed to take it home if they needed additonal time to finish tonight.

TEACHER SAMPLE:

My name is Tiara Ferrell, and I enjoy doing many different things. First, I enjoy spending time with my family. With four kids, there is always something going on and someone who wants to play. I also enjoy rock hunting. My dad has a huge collection of rocks from around the world and, together, we build and sell that collection. Finally, I love words! I enjoy reading and writing stories, mostly science fiction or fantasy. My favorite author is Tamora Pierce, but I enjoy many different books. At the end of the day, curling up and reading a book with my kids is probably my favorite thing in the world.
